There's a big problem with most search engines, and it's one many
people aren't even aware of. The problem is that vast expanses of the
Web are completely invisible to general purpose search engines like
AltaVista, HotBot and Google. Even worse, this "Invisible Web" is in
all likelihood growing significantly faster than the visible Web
you're familiar with.
I first wrote about the Invisible Web in July 1999. Since then, interest in the subject has grown exponentially. Noted super-searcher Gary Price and I teamed up to write a book about the Invisible Web. It will be published in June 2000 by CyberAge books.
We're also building a companion Web site for the book. The site will be home to our ongoing studies and research about the Invisible Web, and will have a directory of links to thousands of the best invisible resources on the Web.
